PARADOX

This product is more than a story wrapped inside a red cover… it is thinking differently about producing and distributing a book.

THE STORY BEHIND THE BOOK

Boz Publications Ltd started off its adventure with Paradox. Conscious of some of the themes within the story, it was important to critique some of the template models that are often present within the publishing world.

We started off with a question:

How can we create a book in which the story and its themes shape every aspect of its construction, from design to production to promotion?

It was an exciting adventure to go, and while the paperback and digital versions are fully immersed in the system we are critiquing, the hardback is walking a different journey. From sustainable materials to moral choices around how this book is sold and promoted, the story themes within Paradox reflect every aspect of this production.

And this question we started with continues to shape the journey of Boz Publications Ltd.

Personal touch

Each purchase of the Special Edition Hardback is sent with a handwritten note from the author.

  • It requires cost, time, and capacity.

    And that is ok.

  • A value of thanks from the author to the reader.

A value of what it means to step into a story.

  • A book is not only a collection of pages but also a doorway into the magic of imagination.

Sometimes, it’s nice to step into that waiting world by finding a note behind a piece of string.

Inserts with a difference

Within the pages of every hardback are two inserts - a playing card and a postcard.

  • The playing card directly references an illustration and critical moment in the story.

It was designed as a visual reminder of something we all face in the world of Paradox (because Paradox is real).

  • The front of the postcard pays tribute to ‘A Christmas Carol’ and John Leech’s illustration in that timeless tale.

‘A Christmas Carol was the inspiration for Paradox, and that specific illustration reveals a hint about the story's theme.

On the back, a message from… that’s for you to find out.

Sketches tour

A different type of tour

  • Imagine a house concert but in literary form.

The ‘host’ invites guests around their home or outside venue. After food and drink are shared, Andy gives a brief presentation about Paradox, followed by a dramatic reading.

The event ends with a Q&A and dialogue about the topics raised.

The size of the group doesn’t matter.
